In Greek mythology, Aegis was the shield of the god Zeus. A symbol of his strength, it protected him by terrifying his enemies. Made by Hephaestus, god of Smiths, it later became part of goddess Athena’s weaponry. Athena’s aegis is frequently depicted in art as a breastplate or shield adorned with serpents. |

In Roman mythology, Egeria was a Roman nymph, goddess of Fountains and Childbirth. She was also the mistress and political advisor to Numa Pompilius, the legendary second king of Rome. Egeria brought inspiration to poets. |
